Transit Resilient timelocks

A presigned transaction moves funds to a transit vault built to recover from failure on either side.

If Heimdall disappears, you can exit unilaterally after three months. Both parties also hold timelocked, presigned recovery transactions so funds are always reclaimable.

Lose every key and backup? Heimdall can publish the recovery package after six months to restore your access.

Is this a multisig wallet or a new blockchain?
It’s pure Bitcoin. Standard P2WSH multisig, timelocks, and presigned transactions. No new chains, no bridges, no wrapped assets.
Is Heimdall Vaults a custodial service?
No. Heimdall never has unilateral control over your Bitcoin. All funds reside in 2-of-2 multisig vaults, where you always retain an independent exit path enforced by the Bitcoin protocol itself. Heimdall’s role is to provide the protections you’d expect from a custodian — policy enforcement, monitoring, and recovery options — but without ever holding custody. This way you get maximum safety and support, with sovereignty guaranteed in code.
What if the exit transaction leaks?
No risk. A leaked exit tx only moves funds into the Transit vault, which still allows immediate joint spend. Leak ≠ loss.
What if Heimdall goes offline or is compromised?
You can broadcast your copy of the exit transaction and unilaterally spend after the 3-month timelock. Heimdall is never a single point of failure.
What if the user loses their key?
After 6 months, Heimdall can help publish the presigned recovery transaction you approved in advance. Funds flow directly to your chosen destination; Heimdall never takes custody.
How does inheritance work?
You can designate heirs or executors as recovery destinations. If keys are lost, Heimdall ensures funds are broadcast to those wallets after the timelock — without ever taking control.
Can teams use Heimdall for shared treasuries?
Yes. Role separation, approval workflows, and audit trails are built in. Teams can enforce policies without adding user complexity.
Are the timelock durations configurable?
Yes. Default is 3 months (user exit) and 6 months (assisted recovery). Enterprises can adjust with clear security trade-offs.
What if Heimdall disappears completely?
The unilateral exit path is enforced by Bitcoin itself. You don’t need Heimdall to recover your funds — sovereignty is guaranteed at the protocol level.
Can we migrate away from Heimdall later?
Yes. All key material, seed rotation, and exit mechanics are documented. You can always move to self-management or another provider.
